Most wildlife in Africa generally accepts the presence of photographers (provided they are enclosed within a safari vehicle) We viewed this wonderful creature in the early morning light as he awoke to greet the day and our group of photographers without the slightest concern. Lions live out a brutal existence as the top carnivore, involved in epic territorial battles and gruesome and exhausting hunts. This photo has a soft, gentle presence to it that we can see reflected in our own domestic cats. Just don’t try pat him.
