Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp

Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp is positioned on a flat ridge inside Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The 8 tents are designed with wooden floors and decks and include a bathtub where you have a direct view of the jungle's canopy. Dining at the camp is under the stars by a roaring campfire and on cooler evenings the central cottage provides a warm shelter. This camp has the unique and thrilling advantage of receiving regular visits from the gorillas.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Located in the south-western corner of Uganda, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a lush, green jungle, housing half of the world's remaining mountain gorilla population. This pocket of primeval forest is one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth and has been designated as a World Heritage Site. On days spent in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest when you are not gorilla trekking, there are many other beautifully scenic hikes available within the park.

DAY 15

Gorilla Trek in Bwindi

You will be transferred to the National Park offices, where you will be divided into groups of 8 and allocated a gorilla family as well as a gorilla tracking guide. After a pre-tracking briefing by your guide, touching on the gorillas generally, your assigned gorilla family, as well as appropriate safety precautions, you drive to the trailhead for the start of a thrilling adventure. Porters are on hand to be hired to assist you up and down the steep slopes. Expect to walk a long distance in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead, before you encounter any gorillas. But it will definitely be worthwhile as for one hour you observe them closely while they eat, play and rest.

DAY 16

You will follow a similar procedure today for your second gorilla tracking expedition.
