Day 3, 4 & 5: Chobe National Park

  • Chobe National Park Botswana (map)

After breakfast you will be transferred across the Botswana border to Kasane to the immigration control on the banks of the Chobe River. You will then be taken to Impalila Island by boat and then to the mooring for the Pangolin Voyager to spend the next 3 nights on a fully inclusive basis.

Workshop 1: Camera set-up and lens choices for wildlife photography

Pangolin Voyager

The PangolinVoyager is a houseboat on the Chobe River and accommodates a maximum of 10 guests. The lower deck features 5 luxurious en suite cabins which can be configured as either double or twin berths. The well-appointed cabins are tastefully decorated with solid African rosewood furnishings. Each cabin has mosquito-proof windows, built-in cupboards, a safe, cooling fan and mosquito repellent. The lounge and dining areas with comfortable leather sofas and individual chairs are located on the middle deck which can be opened on three sides, affording panoramic views for watching game.

Chobe National Park

With an enormous elephant population, as well as magnificent birdlife and a huge array of herbivores and aquatic animals, it is often hard to believe that Chobe National Park is for real. The game viewing starts from the moment you land at Kasane Airport, or drive across the border from Zambia or Zimbabwe, with warthogs foraging in the streets, buffalo being habitual visitors to the town, and hippos lazing around in the river. The Chobe River is the life support of thousands of animals, as well as the surrounding villages, especially during the dry winter months.

During your stay on the boat for these two full days, you will have a dedicated guide and tender boat at your disposal, to explore the Chobe River, go fishing, and head to Impalila Island for guided walks.

Also included during your stay is a 3 hour specialist photo boat safari. Workshop 2: Lightroom introduction and techniques

Workshop 3: Five favourites of Chobe (we will select our 5 favourite images from the past 3 days to share and discuss with the group)
